Cozy Resolution

I have never been very good at making and keeping New Year resolutions! I only become discouraged and disappointed in myself at the end of the year, when I look back and see that my 'Unrealistic' list isn't completed.

My solution...make open-ended resolutions! I like the definition of Open-ended; not having fixed limits; unrestricted; broad; allowing for future changes, revisions or additions.

My resolution is to simplify, organize, and create balance...anything that will make my life easier!

To start things off right, I made a simple and organized cozy for all of my crochet hooks. I'm tired of searching for, digging through, buying new, and losing hooks. Now every hook has it's very own pocket, letter size and folds up neatly!

PROJECT # 1

Q. What do you do when you have this lovely view out your bedroom window?

A. You cover it up with frosted contact paper silly!

That's a little better! It still gives us the light we need for our dark basement bedroom, and a little more privacy. This project has needed to be done for Ohhh...about 6+ years! I have had a difficult time trying to find frosted contact paper/shelf liner, and usually look for it at every store I go to. I see all sorts of great designs and patterns, but never frosted. I know you can order it online, but I figure if I'm going to order something online I want it to fun and exciting....not contact paper.

W.I.P Baskets with Tags ( A Mini Tutorial)

Have I mentioned that I live in a small townhouse (1380 Sq. Ft.) with 4 other people and two dogs? Finding space to store your craft things and fabrics can be difficult at times. The kitchen table is my craft table which means I have to find creative ways to display things. I recently cleaned up my hutch in the dining room (it's really my kitchen, but sounds fancier to say dining room) and got rid of piles of papers and half-done projects. I debated on whether I should get a shelving system to replace the hutch or work with what I've got. I decided on the later to save some $...and did a little digging around the house and brainstorming and came up with this:

A small bookshelf hiding in the basement, and 3 leftover Easter baskets make a great addition to the top of my hutch...and a perfect place to put all my W.I.P's (Work In Progress). But they look a little blah and need something to perk them up a bit. How about some tags?

Start of Something New

I have never received so many awards in my life! I love it, it really encourages me to keep doing the things that make my heart pitter-patter.

This week is a BIGGIE for me because the kids start school on Tuesday. Not that big of a deal for some...but for me it is because I have home-schooled my three kids for the last 5 years! This will be their first time going to school (1st, 2nd & 4th grade), having their own desks, meeting new friends (hopefully), and probably some heart-breaking issues too. This was a very bitter-sweet decision for me. I have had my kids around me almost every second of the day, and every errand that I run.

It is time for them to leave the nest and watch them fly!

 

WOW... it has been kind of crazy running here and there gathering last minute school supplies, and grocery shopping ( I detest grocery shopping) for sack lunches. I drug all three kids to school registration thinking that they needed to be there...uh, let's just say it was total chaos! Tons of kids screaming and  running around, while mothers sat at lunch tables too small for them filling out a stack of papers for each child! How come no one told me I could leave my kids at home to do this? I am the Newbie! Anyhoo, backpacks are packed and ready for that first day of school *sniff * sniff .*
