Waiting For Inspiration to Hit

As you can see I have been painting...trying not to over-analyze my color choices (I tend to do this with everything I do) just letting things flow and inspiration hit me as I go! But now I am down to the heart of the piece...the birds...what oh what should they be? Now my flow, my inspiration has 'Flown the Coop'.

* Should they all be the same kind of bird?

* Should I just copy the pattern and make it easy on myself?

* Should I mix-it-up and have a little bird party?

I may be here awhile trying to decide...waiting for inspiration to hit!

The Birds and B's Art Quilt

This is what is on my table today! A lovely little pattern...it's a painted art quilt. I bought from CartBeforeTheHorse. I have always admired and been inspired by Jo's dolls and thought that I would try my hand at her craft!

They have many other quilt patterns to choose from (which I plan on getting as well), but I thought in celebration of Spring I would paint some Birds and B's! I am a lover of all birds and think that I am going to struggle a bit trying to decide what kind to make these.

I have made many a quilt, but this is my first time making an art quilt. It was a little scary at first for me to put paint on my quilt, but after painting a tree I became more relaxed and confident...and excited! The scariest part will be when everything is painted I will have to sand and distress it with stain...Oh Dear...I think I can...I think I can!

Fanciful Wings

A whole week has just flown by, and I have been busy running here and there and in the end feeling like I haven't accomplished anything...I hate when that happens! But even with the weeks busyness in small pockets of time I did accomplish something after all. I made a whole basketful of fanciful wings! It innocently started with with one...and turned into thirteen.

That's what happens when you start digging through the fabric bins..."oh, this would make pretty wings...oh and this one too...and this one"...and so on! There are truly sooo many possibilities with these wings, and if I would have got my derriere in gear I could have had some lovely Valentine's wings decorating my house right now! 

P.S All these fanciful wings were made with love for a dear friend, to give to her family members in memory/celebration of her Mother's life.

Do the Funky Chicken!

I'm a little embarrassed to say that this is a project I started....Ahem...10 years ago! It is a wool hooked rug kit, and i'm not sure why I didn't finish it? I must have been distracted by another lovely craft...this happens quite often.

I have always adored hooked rugs and wanted to try my hand at a small project before jumping right into making a Gi-normous rug. You know, the kind that sits in front of a lovely warm, glow, warmy-glowing fire? Well, this kit will have to satisfy for now. It makes a 12 x 12" Funky Chicken Rug. It will probably end up as another pillow on the couch, that will end up on the floor with the other 10 hundred pillows the Honey and kids throw down because there is no where to sit!
