Colored Pencil U.S.A Map

Here is a peek at what I am currently working on! It has been nagging at me for quite some time. The weather is cold/snowy and perfect for sitting under a warm blanket, watching movies and stitching.

I bought this embroidery pattern from The Floss Box. Emily has so many cute patterns to download...go check them out! I colored my map using Prismacolor Colored Pencils instead of crayons because the images are small, and it is hard to get nice fine lines with a crayon. I need to put some textile medium on and let it dry before I start my stitching...so you and I will have to wait!

Thrifting

It has been awhile since I have gone a-thrifting! Yesterday was a little slow, so I decided to spend my morning at the thrift store...and I was not disappointed. I came home with about 3-4 yards of red plaid wool, a curtain panel perfect for my craft closet and this little gem of a quilt pattern! It was in a plastic sleeve with the pattern pieces, handwritten directions, and two color pictures. There wasn't a price tag, and sometimes at thrift stores they WILL NOT let you purchase it, no matter how much you beg, plead or stamp your feet...but I was in luck (maybe it's because I'm a familiar face there) and she rang it up for...ready...99 cents! WHoo-Hoo!

It's a 20's style quilt with hand applique and embroidery! Doesn't this look like fun to put together? You could get so creative with this! Here are two examples of the blocks:

Aren't these dames all dolled-up? The 20's are my absolute favorite time period, the music and fashions are the Bee's Knees!

Here is a picture of what the finished quilt looks like. I'm not sure about all those flowers, but I do know there are so many ideas and possibilities already buzzing around in my head!

Welcome To Hocuspocusville...Part Deux!

I have not been very good at posting as much as I would like to lately...so sorry! I wish I could say it's because I have been busy sewing and creating super cool things, but the truth is...I'm just in lazy, sick mode right now! *A-choo *Sniffle* Sniffle*

I apologize for the coloring in some of these photos. It's so hard this time of year to get any decent light anywhere in my house. Without further a do, here are three more blocks in the Hocuspocusville quilt.

First up, Hagatha's Laundry!

I love this whole scene, and the ruffled angry cat makes me giggle every time I see it!

Lastly, my little tribute to Starbucks...The Bubble & Brew! It's a little difficult to see the colors in this photo, but I tried to stay true to the Starbucks colors.

Gotta love the menu board...and the prices...If only!

Welcome To Hocuspocusville!

Just a quick post today...I have lots of little projects waiting to be finished up! I thought I would show you a few of the Hocuspocusville blocks that I have been working on since late July..ugh! I really thought I would have these done in time for Halloween, but they are a little more time consuming than first realized. Anyways, I'm sure it will definitely be done in time for next Halloween *cough* cough*.

There are  a total of 12 embroidered blocks that make up this quilt. I am on block eight as we speak! They measure quite large (20"x20" blocks) and the quilt finished measures 68"x68"....Uh, that's almost as large as the largest wall I have in my entire house! Not sure where this massive quilt will hang...I guess that is for me to worry about next year right?

Ok, so the quilt is originally embroidery in black thread only...but I saw this quilt all made up at a quilt fair last year done in color, and I fell in love instantly! I have chosen to embroider each house in a different color, while using the same colors in other blocks to tie them all together. I felt like Morgana's Apothecary should be done in a bright Fuchsia and Purple!

I think that Spooky Lou's is my favorite so far! Mostly because it has the pretty red bicycle and the festive pendant.

Now, out of these brooms which are you more likely to choose...Obviously the LOADED one right? You know that broom has got some kick to it!
