Gotta Lotta Love

It has been a long time since I have made anything for my home. I have been in a decorating slump for quite awhile. Reading It's All Too Much has given me a kick in the pants to clean out and start fresh, and that is exactly what I am going to do.

This project has been on my To Make List ever since I bought Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing about a year ago. I finally got around to making it...I was just waiting for the perfect fabric to come along, and it did!

I am Sooo loving my magazine holder! I added two vintage pearl buttons at the top. It looks pretty good in my bathroom, and now I think every bathroom in my house needs one.

My very first project out of Simple Sewing was the All-Day Tote.

 

I used an olive green floral canvas for the outside, polka-dots for the lining and side pocket, and orange stitching all around.

 

This is my most favorite of all my bags! It is big and floppy and can hold a lot of books. I made this bag for almost everyone I know... my mom, sisters, sis-in-law, friends, friends-of-friends, and so on. I have a Lotta Love to share!

It's All Too Much!

I think my Honey was secretly sending me a message when he sent me a book review of It's All Too Much! I read through the review, thought it sounded interesting and quickly looked to see if my library had it. No such luck, but I could get it through an inter-library loan. I am not very good at waiting, and I still see that it hasn't been sent out yet, so on my Thursday night out (my personal get-a-way time) I stopped at the bookstore, coffee in hand and started flipping through the book.  An easy plan for living a richer life with less stuff huh? Well, we'll see!

I ended up buying it and devouring it like a mad woman! I would not say that I am a pack rat or hoarder by any means, but my "storage" in the basement is starting to become a fire hazard. I seem to have the idea of "collecting" things for that house I will someday have (you know what I'm talking about, we have all been there). I am more of a victim...a CLUTTER VICTIM. You know, the piles of magazines that need to be gone through, papers shoved and stacked with recipes and phone numbers, library books teetering on the coffee table, and laundry folded but still sitting in the basket waiting to be put away from about a month ago!

Make the World A Better Place with Cookies!

Every time I eat a really good homemade cookie I think of this scene from Stranger than Fiction. (I love this movie, it is on my all-time favorites list, and if you haven't seen it go get it today)!

Ana Pascal (Maggie Gyllenhaal) is a bakery owner and is being audited by the IRS and makes a very difficult day for the tax man, Harold Crick (Will Ferrell).

I love the part where Harold sighs and says, 'Wow...that's a really,really good cookie!' and later says, 'Thank you for forcing me to eat them.'
