Little Miss Ginger

It has been awhile since I have made a doll, so I decided I better do some digging in the pattern box I was given by my mother. If you remember from this post there were a total of 74 different doll patterns! Too many to choose from....but after much deliberating I found Ginger. She is another Pattern Plus doll created by Rainie Crawford, and she made my heart pitter-patter when I found her.

I should have included this in my last post, and totally forgot about this picture until my mother sent it to me! This is my Great-Grandmother, the one who quilted the Nine-patch. This picture was taken in 1978 and she was 83 years old!

Every summer my family would pack up the red station wagon and head to Idaho to visit all the relatives. We would always have a large family dinner (potluck style) held in my Aunt and Uncles back yard, complete with a wooden play set and trampoline. I remember driving out to pick up Great Grandma, and she would always have a jar of homemade canned pickles (which were the best I've ever eaten), and a brown paper bag of mixed candies.

No, she never really did ride a motorcycle, but she sure was spunky enough to!

Blessed Are the Children of the Piecemakers for They Shall Inherit the Quilts!

There is nothing better than curling up in your favorite quilt and warming your body and soul.  It is my safe place and my comfort!

A few years ago, my mother went to visit my grandmother in Idaho and returned home with three beautiful quilts, and my sisters and I got to choose one for our very own! These quilts are at least 75+ years old and were originally pieced by my Great-Great Grandmother, and then many years later hand quilted by her daughter, (my Great Grandmother) and my Great-Grandfather. The three quilt designs are Grandmother's Garden, Lone Star, and a Nine-patch. I chose the Nine-Patch, which is one of my favorite designs, mostly because it can be made as  simple or as detailed as you want.
